Despite the challenging times of pandemic uncertainty, more than hundred brave cyclists
took advantage of the beautiful weather from 10 to 12 September to spend an unforgettable weekend on the 750 km of biking trails of the municipality of Lovinac and the magnificent mountain Velebit.
On Friday, September 10, we had the premiere of bike & hike Sveto Brdo; by bicycle from Sveti Rok (569 m) to Lišćani bunar and hiking via Dušice (1262 m) to magnificent mountain’s Velebit peak Sveto Brdo (1751 m). The enthusiasm of all the participants during this premiere convinced us that this program will start in a rerun in 2022 as well. There are no words to describe the peace and tranquility you feel walking through Dušice glade and the excitement on a sharp ascent to Sveto Brdo. The breathtaking 360˚ view of the blue of the Adriatic Sea on the one hand and all shades of Lika green on the other is best recorded in our memories, but we still share with you footage from this unforgettable bike & hike adventure. On Saturday The Heart of Velebit team prepared a bonus program to bike & hike track Zir. In the romantic surroundings of valley Vranik, a feed zone is organized with delicious homemade elderberry juice, cold Velebit beer from a nearby well and freshly picked apples.
Sunday was reserved for another surprise: cycling along the newest forest road in the “green tunnel” from Sveti Rok to Raduč. In Raduč we were welcomed by the young Alujević family at their organic farm “Naša farma/Our farm” where we enjoyed light dishes of vegetables and raspberries grown on this eco-farm.
Our evergreen tours: Winnetou, River Deep Mountain High and Mile Vode (Waters) still capture attention with their exceptional beauty and adrenaline rush. There is also a new Pilar trail which, due to its beauty, will surely gain the favor of many cyclists.
